Initiated in 2010, IoT Day is about sharing anecdotes to help raise awareness about the many ways the industrial internet impacts the world. This year, the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) celebrates our 5th anniversary, and we are participating with a social media campaign (#IoTDay) featuring member success, testbed results and the value of participating in the IIC ecosystem.
Testbeds are a core element for the development and innovation around the Industrial Internet of Things. In honor of World IoT Day 2019, we’re joining the IoT Community’s Inaugural IoT Day Slam™ 2019: Internet of Things Virtual Conference (#IoTDaySlam), and featuring our Deep Learning Facility Testbed.
Energy efficiency is an important requirement and an indicator of how energy is utilized in commercial buildings. Next generation buildings are designed to carefully optimize energy by delicately balancing demand and supply, with the goal of reducing energy consumption. IoT is an important enabler for this process.
The Deep Learning Facility Testbed focuses on applying AI to IoT and delivering a solution that optimizes asset utilization and energy efficiency in the Toshiba Kawasaki building in Tokyo, Japan. This solution includes the optimized maintenance of monitored assets, energy efficiency through adjustments in all power-consuming services and improvement of visitor experience. The initial deployment of this testbed will be expanding to other facilities, covering challenges faced by all types of large facilities such as hospitals, hotels, malls, factories, airports, etc.

In addition to our flagship Testbed Program, there are many business reasons to engage with the Industrial Internet Consortium. Perhaps you don’t need cheap sensors, but how about analytics? Middleware? Distributed Ledger or AI? Ad hoc networking? Security? Services? Tools? Every IIoT company or technology end-user on the planet should be able to leverage the world’s largest IIoT ecosystem at the IIC. From end users, to platform vendors, OEM’s and suppliers, systems integrators to consultants and thought leaders – all members play an important role. Every member has the opportunity to make a difference and grow their business. This could be you!
